Student organizers say Toews views on same-sex rights, abortion rights and crime represent the worst of Canadian conservatism and should not be honoured by a university that prides itself on inclusiveness. They plan to protest peacefully outside the Duck

This is a guy who said that gay marriage was "the equivalent of government celebrating a Black Mass."

I hope they sing War Pigs.

    WTF did she just say?

Thats an awesome picture. Great job Erin!

    Valedictorian divides audience

"The decision to give an honorary doctorate to someone who is best known among my generation of students as a vocal opponent of the expansion to human rights is questionable at best," said Larson, who earned an honours degree in psychology.

"He stands for everything a university shouldn't," said organizer Rob McGregor.

The students say Toews has opposed gay rights, is behind a needless law-and-order crackdown that will result in millions spent on prisons and he called Tamil refugees terrorists.

Not to the leftarded PC nazis that seem to infest the universities it isn't. Dissenting points of view are a major no no and may prevent you from getting laid.

Think that one needed to get laid more often......if at all.

Universities are generally pretty far left. To the point where I compare them to the Nazi party (a comparison they really hate). Believe what we tell you to believe or suffer, only one accepted point of view on everything, nanny state (Yes Nazi Germany was a perfect example of a nanny state).

Needless to say me and my student union do not get along very well.
Student Union: You want a mandartory health and dental plan?
    Me: No
Student Union: To bad you gotta pay for it

Student Union: Want to fund students from third world countries to come learn at our university, all expense paid?
Me: How much is that gonna cost me?
Student Union: You can't put a price on someone getting an education
Me: Sure I can, whats the cost of room, board, education and allowances?
    Student Union: Racist
Me: What does race have to do with this?
Student Union: Well they are of a different race so you want to deny them education based on their race.
Me: You never told me what nation they were coming from, what race they are or gender or religion. White people exist outside Canada you know.
    Student Union: RACIST PIG!
Me: So I take it you all ready decided to add the extra $50 to my student fees every month huh?
Student Union: Yes because unlike you we aren't racist

Student Union: Give money to support gay pride
    Me: No
    Student Union: You hate gays?
    Me: No
Student Union: How come you wont give money to support gays?
Me: Cause I would rather use my money to buy food
Student Union: But gays are subject to so many hardships
Me: I consider not eating a hardship
Student Union: Did you know gays are harassed still?
    Me: Are you gay?
    Student Union: That doesn't matter
Me: Okay, did you know that you are harassing me for money after I have stated I do not wish to give you my money, when I already am forced to give money to the gay support group threw my student fees. That is $5 extra a month I have to pay so you can put up your sign, hand out your buttons and harass me when I am on my way to get lunch.
    Student Union: Homophobic asshole
Me: I don't give money to churches does that mean I hate Christians?
Student Union: Not the same thing

Me: So according to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms I have the rights to associate with who ever I want. Correct?
    Student Union: Yes
Me: So can i choose to not be associated with the student union?
Student Union: No, why would you want to do that anyways?
Me: I'm not a fan of being part of a union that is giving away 5 grand to pay for people to support the Tamil Tigers, which happens to be listed as terrorist by the Canadian government, USA government and many European nations.
Student Unions: That's the governments point of view not ours
Me: Okay let me restate that, cancel the funding for these guys or I take you to the court for extortion to support a terrorist organization.
    *They canceled the funding*

How I wish I was there to heckle the valedictorian. That would've been worth a laugh.

Free speech that dares to stray from the leftist principles of the campus is not tolerated.

Groupthink at it's best is alive and flourishing on our university campuses.

My experience is that there is a small, often vocal, leftist, protest-type element on campus, but they're a minority. Most of the students I see in an economics department are little Alex P. Keaton wannabees. I don't think university campuses are any more leftist than any other place in society. Perception is often myth.
