A B.C. man has been charged in what police say was a $40,000-a-week business trafficking women from Hong Kong to work in the sex trade.

    Nah, say no to unpaid labor- since these women would have been paid, or why would they do this in the first place. Just that he held their debt over them.

    Legalization of prostitution would also have to include stiffer sentences for crimes like this.

    Actually the ruling in Ontario would have decriminalized this - all he's charged with is one charge of living off the avails of prostitution and four counts of keeping a common bawdy house. Prostitution is legal in this country, it's activities such as this surrounding it that are illegal.

    The human trafficking could not be proven, and you always have to wonder how much the police exaggerate. The women would not testify. Who knows, maybe they were willing participants. The Police claim language barriers - I bet we have plenty of Chinese/English translators in Vancouver.

    Since rights are apparently a mere grant from a government then why not legalize this by making it legal to own slaves in Canada? After all, if the government says someone has no rights then they have no rights.
