The Department of Foreign Affairs is advising Canadians travelling in Europe to be aware of their surroundings and take precautions to ensure their safety, after U.S. officials warned Americans of potential terrorist attacks on the continent.

If anyone thinks I'm taking my Canadian flag off, they'll be sadly mistaken.

We will not be safe until we throw all this PC bullshit out the window and go after our enemies directly.

So...what are we doing in Afghanistan then?

I'd be more worried about going to Mexico.

"Canada is focussed on a targeted set of objectives in keeping with proven Canadian strengths and consistent with Afghan objectives and the efforts of the international community.

The first four priorities focus primarily on Kandahar. Canada is helping the Government of Afghanistan to:

Maintain a more secure environment and establish law and order by building the capacity of the Afghan National Army and Police, and support complementary efforts in the areas of justice and corrections.

Provide jobs, education, and essential services, like water.

Provide humanitarian assistance to people in need, including refugees.

Enhance the management and security of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border."

I'm not seeing 'Taking it to the enemy' on the GC website.

I'd be rather surpised if it said 'Talking it to the enemy' on a US Gov website.

Where a bit if frankness is required, (as in what Martin wants) is with Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and other countries that pretend to be our mates but fund and covertly support the Jihad against us.

I think I'd agree. At least going to Europe you expect to have problems with crime (Hamburg, Amsterdam, Marseilles, etc.) or terrorism, but when you go to Mexico you can be lulled into thinking it's a big resort when, in fact, it is far more dangerous than Afghanistan or Iraq.

In Afgh./Iraq there's been maybe 50,000 casualties on both sides in the past seven years. In Mexico some sources (Univison Spanish language TV here in Sacramento, for instance) that place the number of dead due to the Mexican drug insurrection of the past decade at some .

And that insurrection is spilling over into the US. Just this week a man was killed in the US by Mexicans while on a jet ski thinking he was just out to have a good time.

Frankly, I'm beginning to wonder if the next war the US gets into will be in Mexico. Not that it would be a war with Mexico, but a war to destroy the drug cartels after the Mexican government collapses - something that the drug cartels are working for.
