Police want right to perform random breathalyzer test

B.C.'s chiefs want the freedom to pull over anyone, anywhere, at any time of day and ask them to take random breathalyzer tests. Currently, an officer requires cause to get a breath sample.

I think it is a reasonsable request. Of course there is going to be selfish opposition who don't want to get constantly randomly pulled over to get breathalized however it definetly would ensure and punish those who drink and drive and put themselves and other in danger when doing so. I think it's a good idea.

I think it's reasonable too. I have no problem with it. Bring it on.

If a cop were to randomly request a breath sample from me, I'm pretty sure he'd get told to go fuck his hat. I'd take my chances in the courtroom on that scenario.

Why? Because of your ego? I'll eat my ego if it saves my kid.

Because it's the same request as "Show us zee papers". It's not got a damn thing to do with ego. I'd gladly be the precedent guineau-pig in taking random and arbitrary police searches to the Supreme Court.

I wish we'd ban cars already.

I wish we could ban self righteous people.

You're ok with a police state? I'd rather not have the police waste my time whenever they please. I'm ok with them doing their job based on their training.

Police state? I can't say The Netherlands is a police state, but yes, I'm been stopped to take a breathalizer once in a while. I really don't give a crap. I don't drink and drive, so I have nothing to hide.

Well I don't either but I also don't want to get pulled over and have to submit to an embarrassing test just to satisfy a police officers curiosity.

So now you can in BC, but they're not mentioning the random. You get stopped in a roadblock and if the $25 Dollar Store device says fail you lose your car, your licence and about $5000 right there. Along with your right to due process.
Refusing to blow right then and there, same penalty.
And there's already stories out there about the guy who blew 0.33 after only one drink. They're using that to show even one drink is bad and you're a moron to believe it. Fucking Mini-Me wouldn't read 0.33 after one drink using a bloodtest. It shows the roadside devices are more Chinese crap.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Gordon Campbell is the worst thing that's ever happened to BC.

In that, you and I would never disagree!
