The world's most northern mosque has arrived by barge in Inuvik, N.W.T., giving Muslims in the Arctic town a proper place of worship.
This is a nice piece of propaganda by the CBC, but the mosque in Inuvik, N.W.T. at 6821?42?N 13343?50?W? is in reality the 3rd most northern mosque in the world. The others are in Norway and Russia.
Yaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhooooooooo! OMFG, this is such exiting news. I just can't believe it. Can you believe it? I can't believe it. Just makes my whole world a whole lot brighter. What a relief. I laughed, I cried. The drama, the tension. Oh what joy that it all worked out.
The Canadian Arctic's northernmost mosque will become operational in Autumn 2010 after being built in Winnipeg and moved 4,000 km (2,500 mi) by truck and barge. Although the CBC says that "Once the mosque arrives in Inuvik, it will become the world's northernmost mosque." there are mosques in Norilsk, Russia; and Troms, Norway, both of which are further north than Inuvik
