As fires move across large swaths of British Columbia's dense forests, there are new warnings about air quality in communities as far away as Alberta.

Well, I can tell ya, the air quality in far away Grande Prairie just sucks cause of the fires in BC. Last night it smelled like we had a camp fire going in the backyard with the wind blowing the smoke right into the house...

Looks as though it's going to be more of the same tonight.

I don't know if I've ever seen smoke like this around here before.

This grain elevator is less than a quarter mile away and the picture was taken at 5:00 pm

Sorry Rose, I looked through the list twice and didn't see the story. It must be all that smoke in my eyes. 8O

    I take that back, it's 2 different stories. :P

Smoke around here's so thick I'm down to one pack a day!
Had a fire start only a mile from town, we all got to watch the helicopter fill the bucket right at the main beach and dump it just up the block. Close call.

50 km from the Sask border and it's as thick as fog. Driving tonight will be treacherous because the deer can't be seen.

Meanwhile, pockets of British Columbian's who inhaled the resulting smoke have been experiencing dizzyness, shortness of breath and cases of the munchies. Victoria so far remains immune since there have been no large fires in Shawnigan Lake this year. :D

Same near Edmonton. Not as bad, but it still smells like the neighbours just doused a campfire, not like the campfire is a hard 8 hour drive away in Williams Lake.

The far side of the mountain behind our house has been burning for weeks. It's too steep to get in their and fight it, it's not threatening anybody, so they pretty much let it burn. It dies down and flares up with the winds.

Last two days have been really smokey. Enough to choke you.

Oh noes. Is this affecting Vancouver/Lower Mainland? I'm going to be living there in a week and smoke would suck!
