To think a while ago he was (a serial killer masquerading as) a promising student due to be married and had nothing but a great life ahead of him.
And then the police ruined his fun.

I thought about the same thing. Everybody can have problems and do evil things. That's sad.
And then the police ruined his fun.
He wasn't pretending, he was. He threw it all away for a few weekends of fun.
To be fair I've thrown away almost as much for almost as little.
Mind you I didn't hurt anyone all that much doing it though.
