"Brenda" said Then why do they call it "The Jewish General Hospital"???
Why do you think?
The JGH was founded as a general hospital, open to all patients regardless of race, religion, language or ethnic background.
A bit of history... 1900s and 10s
Arriving in Montreal from Russia and eastern Europe, new waves of Jewish immigrants encounter religious discrimination in their attempts to receive medical treatment and find jobs in many of the city's hospitals.
Small Jewish medical centers are opened in Montreal, that are later absorbed into the JGH.
1927 After a meeting in January of Montreal's Jewish leaders, a mass meeting of the Jewish community is held in May to agree that a need exists for a Jewish hospital.
"Brenda" said I want a Dutch hospital. I wanna feel special toooooooo
(thanks Raydan )
Build one financed by the Dutch community like the Jews did The Jewish is the best hospital in Montreal since it is very well funded by private donations while other hospitals receive funds mainly from the government. It is very modern compared to others because of that. That's where I received the best care.

Most of us already think you're special. What more do you want?
Most hospitals named after saints are Catholic hospitals(does the order of St. John also ring a bell). The Methodist and Presbyterian Churches have several, a couple of the more prominent being, New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, and Houston's Methodist Hospital.
As for other famous Jewish hospitals, everyone has heard of Mount Sinai in New York and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, which is part of Washington University. There are also plenty of hospitals built and funded by the Shriners and Free Masons, Lions, Rotarians and other fraternal orders. So having a Jewish hospital is nothing out of the ordinary here in North America. They all became good citizens, and contributed to the building of our nations, as they didn't face the same walls and barriers that Jews often faced in European society.
Even here in Taiwan, we have Catholic hospitals and one of the best in Taipei is MacKay Memorial Hospital, named after Canadian medical missionary Dr. George MacKay, and is under the jurisdiction of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan.
There is something like a Jewish General hospital?
