I love those anti-war protestors comments.

Krista Riley, a contributor to a Muslim media blog, wrote: "This violence happened while the international forces were in Afghanistan, so the logic leading to the conclusion that things would necessarily be worse if 'we' left isn't exactly clear."

Yeah, its the fact WE are in Afghanistan that forced the Talibans hands to do this. Despite there past extreme religious ideology. Ignoring the facts that women rights and and afghani women in general have been more prosporous in the last couple years.

One anti-war blogger wrote: "Isn't this title... applying emotional blackmail and exploiting gender politics to pitch for the status quo - a continued U.S. military involvement?"

You mean like showing statistics of how many soldiers have been killed to support pulling out of the war? or showing gross images of soldiers wounded/dieing? or showing pictures of afghani's in frowny faces to support a pullout? Kinda being a hypocrite as that's generally the anti-war bloggers thing.

Anyways regarding the article, glad shes out of there and glad shes getting help.

What a savage thing to do. Are the Afghans so terrified of women that they have to do this? The Muzzies have the balls to criticize us for our UN-Islamic behavior. Where is the superiority? where is the Koran does it say you can do this? or are you writing your own version of the Koran?

To the guy who did this you are nothing more than a sniveling, cowardly gynophobic bully. I want to get a doberman to rip your throat out. (Yes, I know I'm not being PC).

How long do you want to stay in Astan? Things certainly aren't very good. The Talibs control large areas. Karzai, president of Kabul is a corrupt drug dealer in bed with the warlords. Meantime, Pakistan's ISI continues to support the Taliban and give them refuge when they need it. You could kill every Talib in Astan, and as soon as you left they would come flooding back from Pstan. So, do you see your grandkids still standing guard on a few towns and villages in Astan?

God damn these morons. Andy is right, infact I would say Afghanistan and the lawless, lawless northern tribal areas of Pakistan are the source and heart of radical Islamic terrorism today and that us where it has spread out form. Mainly its a pashtun/pashtoon/pakhtoon thing.

I've been close and observed these people for a long time and know how they think. Hardly ever use logic or their brains and come from very tribal and feudal backgrounds. Very suspicious of outsiders, don't know much about Islam but yet claim to be very religious, Pretty much isolated from rest of the world. Arms flow freely and very male orientated society. Horny mofo's yet keep their own women under wraps. Blood feuds and vendettas the norm. An example : one pashtoon worked for my dad over here in Dubai for a very long time. His family moved out from their village and finally to Lahore a city far away. Because his brother was accused of something he said he never did ( cant remember what )

Around ten years later he was hunted down shot in the far away city to pay for his crime by relatives of the accusers. They really dont let bygones be bygones. Another case two whole families were wiped out because one of the goats strayed into someones field, they shot the goat, in turn they shot the dude who shot the goat, vice versa and so on until only one aged grandfather was left from one of the families. If it was a clan thing they it would only stop if one clan was totaly wiped out.

I can go on and on about such idiotic examples I have heard first hand from people from those areas. So its not very hard for me to see how these poeple can turn into the taliban. Most of them already are only the taliban have directed their moron-o-ism towards the west.

How this is problem is solved, I can't think of anything. But if they pull out now its going to get worse. Last time the US left this region with loose ends it got the Taliban, god know what they will get this time.

Who's in "Astan"?? Not you. Who want's to stay, not you. I want to stay, I want to go back there, I want to see my Afghan friends again, I want to help them and every Afghan who hates the Taliban as much as I do. When you say "you" think about who you're referring to.

I'm Scottish...these blood feuds were part of our culture for a loooooong time, but we were able to leave ...most... of it behind and move on. We even forgave the MacDonalds for stealing livestock from their own kin. Their molestation of livestock however, continues to be problematic.

Education brought you out of those dark times and that is what I truly believe is the key. Wining hearts and minds and educating those minds is the KEY. In Afghanistan people are starting to see the ISAF for more than just invaders and occupiers now as they themself have suffered at the hands of these brutes.

War is required now to get rid of those bastards. The Taliban and the people who side with then.

Since I quoted Bacardi, I was clearly referring to him.

    I also said this:

You could answer that if you want. (Er, since I quoted you in this reply, I'm talking to you.)

A friend of mine, who is an internist for the CF, had a similar response for a cop who asked him 'Why are in Afghanistan?'....just not as polite as Smacle's. He'd just got back from a rotation.

Well, if Samcle wants to be in Astan for his own reasons, let him do it on his own dime and under his own flag. As long as he's doing it for Canada, my voice counts too. And it looks like soon enough Canada won't want him to be in Astan any more, so if he thinks it's so important he will have to find another flag to fight under. Harper certainly seems to have done a 180 since he's realized there's no more political points to score being rah rah for a futile war.

The problems for this lady is that while we can give her anew nose and ears what will she do next? If she goes back they might kill her.
