The diplomatic red tape holding up the return of an Ontario teenager from Cuba following a car accident this past spring has finally been removed, according to his uncle.
Face saving? idk, maybe, I wouldn't want him visiting my country if he backs out on a trial in another after agreeing he would return. The story says a dump truck hit their rental car, really? Maybe the reporter is wrong and Cody hit the dump truck, if it's his fault why shouldn't he be held responsible? Should mean at least a fine, maybe having to pay for damages.
His mom says "It was the most terrifying thing a mom could ever go through" Really? the most terrifying? tell that to moms who have sons and daughters in war zones, to moms who have kids in jail right now for horrible crimes. I am not saying it wouldn't have been scary, but come on, she can't have much of an imagination if that's the worst thing she could think of going through.
Well really both he and his mother were wrong here. You have to be 25 to rent a car and he was not old enough and who would even attempt to drive in Cuba? People have to realize that when in a foreign country you have to go by their laws and rules.. sometimes I think people forget where they are. If you go to a communist country or even other countries with different systems of justice, you leave your rights at the airport.. I visit Cuba 3x a year and have been going since my boys were in their teens and we never had problems.
