It was meant to be the document that put a lid on the clerical sex abuse scandals that have swept the Roman Catholic world. But instead of quelling fury from within and without the church, the Vatican stoked the anger of liberal Catholics and women's grou

The most important change is to extend the period during which a clergyman can be tried by a church court

And we are bitching about Sharia law?

I thought church and state were separated?

In Vatican city, the church is the state. Outside that, they can have their courts but all they can do is excommunicate. You could have a similar court if you wanted. Sorta like CKA - a dictatorship with the power to excommunicate if they don't like what you post. Trevor is sorta like the pope here.

Yes, They have the power to tell you to go to hell(the church not Trevor).

I think a married clergy would cut down sharply
the pedophilia. Oh course you would need a pope
who's thinking is 21 Century which cans that
    idea.

    Ordaining women - a crime.

Clergy raping children - sorry, the jury's still undecided on that one.

It's completely baffling that anyone takes seriously a single word that this evil theocratic organization ever says.

IF they want to keep clergy unmarried, make em cut their nuts off when they get ordained. It would cut down on the diddling, and it's not like they're supposed to be using them anyway.

Why is ordaining women a crime. Only the male chauvinist pig organization the College of Cardinals and the Pope made up that one. Given their behavior a activities by the manson family has as much credibility.

Although I agree that way too much abuse is and has been going on, this is ridiculous.
Marriage wouldn't solve the kiddie-diddling. A perv is a perv whether it's a clergy or your own damned uncle.

Well, I outlined my solution to that. But why is the Catholic church so much worse than other churches - either they attract pervs because of the no marriage policy, or being married does actually cut down on this stuff since there's another outlet. Either way, allowing marriage would help.

That is my point Andy. If the church allowed for a married clergy this child raping would sease to to be the global power, but changing the attitude of the Catholic Church, which Benedict could do in 5 minutes with signed order would be convincing Quebec to become civilized and speak English.

Well, I outlined my solution to that. Ok. So we should castrate men period when they reach puberty, because they might become rapists someday.

Are they? I don't know if they are, I know it looks like that now.

IMO, it doesn't matter whether a perv is married or not. Marc Dutroux was married. I am sure more kiddie diddlers are married. I was going to say "most", but I can't back it up with stats.

Anyhow, what I am trying to say is that it is not "the church" or "marriage" that makes kiddie-diddlers or prevents it. Unless you are saying that when men are married, they take out their sexual perversions on their wifes?

I guess women want equal opportunity to molest little boys, too.

I generally do not weigh in on Roman Catholic Church matters but the fact of the matter is that they have the right to run their church as they see fit so long as it has no effect on non-Catholics and so long as it does not violate the applicable laws of the various countries in which they operate.
