What's funny is it's the same day the French, one of the colonizer of Canada, killed dozens of people on the same day on 1789.

What's even funnier, is that the leftist Quebec is one of the province who are the most FOR the death penalty.

    Irony, you say ?

    And here's what's even funnier. 8O

According to an Angus read poll, conducted in January of 2010, the question was asked of Canadians.
Would you support punishing each of the following crimes with the death penalty? - Homicide (murder):

    Yes - 62%
    No - 29%
    Not Sure - 10%

What I find amazing is that the numbers are almost identical to 1978:

Table 19: Support for reinstatement of the death penalty

    Year For Against Undecided
    1998 61% 35% 4%
    1997 63 30 6
    1996 55 36 9
    1994 59 32 9
    1990 60 33 7
    1987 61 28 11
    1986 68 20 12
    1985 68 22 10
    1984 71 21 8
    1982 70 19 11
    1978 68 20 11

For 32 years a majority of Canadians have wanted the death penalty reinstated but apparently politicians don't have to listen to what the people want, since it's much more important for their political aspirations to score points with the squeeky wheel crowd.

Unfortunately there are a number of grizzle murderers out there that deserve it.

It's Barbaric and we don't need it.

Unfortunately, they abolished life sentences too, and the barbarians are going to town on society. We have to have one or the other and right now we have neither.

According to numerous polls, conducted over a myriad of years, I'd say you're opinion is consistently in the minority.

According to other sources it does nothing to reduce crime and does nothing to save money.

So other than revenge what's the point?

It's been proven to cut the rate of recidivism by 100%.
