One would think there are enough Arabs in Canada to teach them?

Well yeah but this way they can learn from them in more than one way while in their country ;)

    This is an excellent idea.

It's better to learn a foreign language in a fully immersed environment. When you get dropped into a foreign culture and speak it 24/7, you learn the nuances and subtleties far better than by speaking to someone in Canada for a few hours a day.

For example, I can speak far better Japanese than I can German, even though I have many more years of language classes in German than Japanese. That's the difference between spending two years in a foreign country and years and years in Canada.

The Media is ignorant, they don't bother to do some minor research to find out that this is not a new thing within the Government. Foreign Affairs sends many people to other countries for the last part of their language training for the reason boot just pointed out.

Good idea. Arabic is more about the metaphors and nuances than it is about the direct translation so this is a good idea.
