Nearly one-third of Canadians do not have a savings plan in place even though almost everybody would like to have a financial safety net.
That's according to a survey done for one of the country's largest banks.
Well, 'savings plan' could mean a number of different things and that's not really flushed out in the article. Also, people could be wealthy enough not to really need any savings plan.

Yep, that's pretty sad, but then it's not much of a surprise is it? Every few months there's a news article that many families only have enough to last a pay cheque or two and then they start missing payments on their houses/credit cards/etc.

While I am not rich by any stretch, I have no debt whatsoever. No vehicle loans, mortgage and the credit card is paid off whenever it is used.(Mainly for trips)
That, combined with my military pension and Veterans Affair pension could sustain me in the lifestyle I presently live, including the travel.
