A short but intense thunderstorm pelted parts of Calgary with golf-ball sized hail, high winds and heavy rain, damaging homes, buildings, and vehicles.

    I thought that insurance companies didn't provide hail insurance these days - at least not after that monster payout for hail damage in the 90s.

    Nasty man. I heard the other day that Alberta has the most frequent hailstorms of anywhere else on the planet.

    Yeah, was there myself. Rushed outside in an attempt to save all the potted flowers, but it was a good thing I decided not to head out and get stuff done (finished off stuff around the house instead) -- some places I was going to visit were all nailed by hail, quite a few of them big enough to break windows. Heard the university had quite a bit of damage.
