Spain has beaten the Netherlands 1-0 to win the World Cup for the first time in the country's history, with a shot that rocketed into the net in the final minutes of extra time.

    Now I don't feel so bad about Portugal losing considering no one else was able to beat Spain. Except Switzerland. So I guess Switzerland should be celebrating as well.

    I'm pumped! Though my man Fernando Torres (LIVERPOOL!) didn't really figure in the competition, due to a wretched injury-plagued year. Spain deserved the victory with the once-in-a-generation level of talent they had on the field, and a graceful Tiki Taka style that was only partly disrupted by the Netherlands "clogs of war" hack strategy.
