Iran's government is denying reports that an Iranian woman convicted of adultery will be executed by stoning, though her death sentence may still be carried out by some other method.

That's might nice of them although they are still going to kill they won't stone her to death.

They might be "merciful" and hang her slowly or garrote her. They may even shoot her. Such a kind, sensitive system brought to you by the Ayatollah Khomeini, Piss be Upon Him.

If that was my mother being put to death because of adultry based on suspicions with very little proof. Even if she was guilty.

I'd turn into a vigilante and set my self loose on a few judges.

She has undergone 99 lashes, and survived. And she got sentenced to death for the same "crime"?

WHY is nobody standing up here???

We should kick out the Iranian diplomat out of Canada until they cease this medieval practice.

If anyone is going to criticize me for that with examples of how we're just as bad, spare me the moral relativism and stfu. We don't stone people to death, period.

Where's the proof he was tortured ?

You're not still leaning on this Abu Ghraib angle are you ? Just an fyi when you're involved with a group of people who chuck nades at our Amercian allies and kill them you get fast tracked to Gitmo.

Too bad so sad, tough shit.

I'll take living in America over living in Iran any day of the week. I suspect so would you when it comes down to it. If you state any different you're full of shit.

Give Zip the benefit of the doubt, and say Khadr was interrogated in a vigourous fashion. This woman was given 99 lashes for infidelity, then some mullahs decided to reopen her case, and have now decided to stone her. Khadr, killed an American medic in a war zone and his family were close friends of Osatan bin Laden, sharing the same home. Perhaps the little murderer knew some secrets, or still does, that could save thousands of lives. There's absolutely no comparison.

In all "Fundamentalist", ie extreme Islam, extreme well everything there have to be a good dose of humanism. This woman survived 99 lashings for adultery now they want to kill her. By any civilized measure of humanity that is savage.

Her son has to watch her being lashed and now he has to wake up every morning wondering if they killed his mother last night.

To describe this as following the will of God is sickening. We look on the things Hitler did and what Stalin did as pure evil. The Iranian government is different only that they wrap the terrorism of their people in the cloak of religious righteousness but they are are just as evil.

Whether the media attention will save her life and free her is uncertain. I hope so. Keep up the attention.

Evil likes to operate in the dark when action are held up in the light of day where people can see it is exposed as what it is. Keep talking about it

Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department on Thursday acknowledged reports of the planned stoning. Spokesman Mark Toner said, "We're deeply troubled by press reports of the planned execution by Iranian authorities of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani by stoning.

"Stoning as a means of execution is tantamount to torture. It's barbaric and an abhorrent act," he said.
Why aren't we as upset by the fact that it is a death sentence for from a confession extracted after the 99 lashes were given? I hope the rumblings of dissent in Iran continue and overthrow this evil system.

    EXACTLY!!!
She is sentenced to death for a "crime" she already got punished for, and that is not even proven to be true in the first place!

How about just eliminating the death penalty altogether? This fine distinction between methods of execution, one deemed barbaric, the other perfectly civilized escapes me.

Even if she's not stoned or other wise executed, if her sentence is commuted to a long jail sentence it's just as bad. Good chance she'll die in prison from being tortured or raped, or just being locked up in a coffin-like cell.

I don't believe the the Islamic Revolutionary Guards in Iran
are amiable to outlawing the death penalty. If fact probably
calling for the elimination of the death penalty would get
you the death penalty. To them it is a cherished institution.

We have it here in the States, but you would have to do a lot
more than be adulterous to get executed. If it were there would be a lot fewer Americans.

I believe it shouldn't exist anywhere except for the most vile
behavior. Hanging Stalin and Hitler I don't think would bring too many people to grief.

This woman should be set free and allowed to leave the country. If the Ayatolla Aho (or whatever) want to save face say they she is being deported.

Here is one life if we can get her free it's a start.
