Afghanistan is and always has been a meat grinder for any nation that invades and occupies it. Pragmatically speaking, the only way it will ever be pacified is for it to be rendered inhospitable. Poison the wells and salt the fields and then leave. That's the best anyone can really do there.
I'm guessing after the West leaves, the Chinese will come and pick up that $3 billion
in mineral wealth sitting in Afghanistan.
Maybe they will be more successful than we were, although its not really
a great idea to just give it to them.
