Case files piling up by the thousands, phones ringing off the hook, forced midweek courthouse closings and occasional brawls as frustrated citizens queue for hours to pay parking fines.
Again, this illustrates why Canada should avoid further integration with the United States. If we had more diverse trading partners and in more equal percentages, America's pain would not be felt as badly or vividly up here. Honestly, let's get talking with India and South Korea already.
Good example of how the politics of both fringes can end up in total failure and disaster for everyone. Libertine spending policies (especially luxury spending on illegal immigrants) combined with reactionary conservative hatred towards any sort of tax rationalization. And us folks in TROC thought that Quebec was run badly! I don't think that even the NDP could screw up as badly as both the Dums and Repigs have done in California over the last thirty years.

I might as well ask, how are the Republican fringes represented in California? Although yes, there have been Republican governors in California, I wouldn't exactly call them on the fringe. Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't come off as the extreme-right to me.
Then again, I never figured out the whole thing about federally red states electing Democratic governors and federally blue states voting in Republican governors.
I think by "fringes" he just meant the blantantly bad policy of either wing. My information is that in California they are big on spending and not big on taxes. They really screwed that up.

Eh...California, from my understanding, is that they're big on taxes too. I think they have both the highest sales and income taxes in the US.
How long ago was it that they threw out Governor Gray Davis for predicting this exact sceanario. The good people of California then decided that they'd rather have that fiscally responsible famous ex Austrian Republican for Governor, who, given his hollywood pedigree had to be a great politician.
Gray Davis can run a dirty campaign better than anyone, but he can't run a state. Arnold Schwarzenegger
I guess Arnie was dead wrong about that.
I feel good because I believe I have made progress in rebuilding the people's trust in their government.
This guy makes Ronald Regan look like a freakin Rhodes scholar.
The people of California are getting what they deserve for voting in elected officials who's major qualification for running the state was that they were famous and from Hollywood.
I guess the next Govenor of California, if there's still a state, will be Sean Penn.
Despite the fact that Schwarzenegger was elected as part of the campaign to control the deficit he instead increased spending. I can't recall the details but the budget increase wildly. We see politicians missing the point pretty regularly.
"Mr_Canada" said Sometimes I wonder if Canada is doing so well because we're sucking the life out of America economically. Their recession hit immediately, ours took awhile... But it wasn't so hard, just no jobs, and a number of layoffs...
Then it 'ended'. We were out. The world has been praising us for our strong banks and seemingly powerhouse economy in a time of utter world chaos. America was going through a mental breakdown.
I wonder if we're taking American jobs?
Ummm...the cost of doing business in Canada is higher than in California, relocating north makes no sense. What jobs would we be taking away from the Americans, other than film which has been going on since the '80s?
We didn't get into the funny mortgage scheme, but they did.
Right now they just need to tax more and a lot. Or let the people that are in jail for stuff that wasn't illegal 100 years ago out. I think that's 90% of California's Prison population.
Prop 13 and Balanced Budget requirements as part of the Constitution is what we need to avoid. I'm all for diversifying our Trade though, but right now despite the US Economic malaise the Canadian Economy is doing quite well.

The only real chart comparison is:

Which isn't exactly perfect, no doubt, but at least from general perception, California isn't exactly a state which is lacking taxes.
