MOSCOW - Prime Minister Vladimir Putin climbed into the cockpit of Russia's newest fighter jet on Thursday and said it would trump a U.S.-built rival, the F-22 Raptor.
You seem to think Mr C that the cold war was only a battle of political ideology. When you boil it all down, it actually had very little to do with that, despite the rhetoric. It was all about money and power, who would create the largest empire. The power brokers from each side used political propaganda to veil the true goal of the cold war from their respective people.
Russia as always speaks too much, they are weak for war, when the'll take this plane even it's best than Raptor when they'll manufacture it (it's for Russia as always a lot of time, the USA will have new one, better.
"EyeBrock" said Lol, cold war? It's one Nationalist Capitalist country against another Nationalist Capitalist country.
How about Capitalist corporate democracy vs Capitalist pseudo democratic, oligarchy run police-state?
How about 2 nations run by a child mentality of oneupsmanship that set the entire human race back decades instead of moving forward in peace after WW2.
There is no way on earth the US is some innocent and knightly defender of virtue in the cold war. Each side shares great blame in nearly bringing us to WW3.
"EyeBrock" said Yep, we should have just rolled over at let jolly old Joe Stalin call the shots.
You a fan of Neville Chamberlain Derby?
Oh puulease. Aside from the historical fact that Chamberlain era Britain (not to mention the US) was woefully unprepared to fight the Nazis it was idiots like Patton and MacArthur (with China) were true dangers.
Need I remind you that the when the truth came out about the Soviets over the cuban missile crisis it showed the US in a much less favourable light.
Plenty of blame to go around and more then a little of it belongs at the feet of the US.
As much as I think Canada is historically more humane than Britain or the USA, I think its that very same quality that would hypothetically make us a worse world leader. Anyone follow me on this?

There is a time for talk, a time for diplomacy. Then there is a time for, how can I put it... kicking ass.
A good "world leader" knows what is called for and when.
