Bout damn time. Had a fucking Harley humper across the street from my old house. Everyday at 6 AM he would rev the shit out of his bike for 10 minutes, then shut it off. Presumably AFTER he busted a nut.
Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with Harleys and their riders. Used to own a '68 Shovelhead myself, but the idiot across from me really was a fag. He spent more time humping it than actually riding it.

Yes un-muffled motorcycles do get annoying.

It will be unenfoceable. The first ticket issued will be challenged and tossed.. What the Edmonton City Clowncil needs to be targeting are the mini-cars with 'sewing machine engines' outfitted with mufflers which only purpose is to be noisy!

You mean there's another entirely different reason for removing baffles and mufflers from bikes other than to be a noisy asshole??

I don't agree with the 'wannabe's' who remove baffles either, but there is already a law on the books to specifically cover that.has been for years! This is just a case of edmonton clowncil 'being seen to be doing something'. When they were questioned about going after the 'skeeters on steroids cars' the answer was " We don't have the 'scientific equipment' to accurately measure the noise of 'those' vehicles!

My 5.9 R/T is 'stock' and will pass if measured because it is 'stock', but if someone put the same exhaust system on a bike, the're going to get nailed! How is that fair?

    Fair enough

Maybe cuz the body of your truck partially encloses your exhaust system as opposed to being completely open from the headers back on a bike?

The 'noise' comes out of the tail-pipe which is very much 'in the open'. I 'step on it' it's veeeery noisy, and when I 'gear down' it is noisier yet. 'That' is the type of behaviour that should be targeted regardless of what kind of motor vehicle is involved.

Mark my words when I tell you that "There is going to be a hell of a bike 'rally' of several hundred pissed off bikers, roaring up and down Jasper Ave, and there won't be a damn thing the law can/will be able to do about it"!

Well, to be fair martin, I used to have some faggot Harley humper that lived across from my last house. He'd wake up every morning at 6AM, throw open his garage doors and rev the shit out of his bike for about 10 minutes. After he got his rocks off, he'd shut it down and go back in the house. Once in a while he'd actually take it for a ride
It's idiots like him the law needs to be applied to.
By the way, I'm not anti-Harley or any other scooter. Used to own a '68 Shovelhead before my back was broken. But idiots like the above mentioned fag give Harley riders in particular a bad name.

There's nothing like driving the Whitemud, windows down on a fine summer day, and having a stealth hog do a 'whisper' pass that you don't hear - rather, feel - until right as they pass your window scaring the shit out of you. Shit lot of good it would have done them if I decided to lane change.

I've often wondered, if the straight pipes are with safety in mind, why aren't they wearing the bright yellow and orange safety vest like the cops do?

Between slurping ur timmies, yakking on the phone, texting, reading the paper,

    God knows what else ;),

cagers pay less attention than ever before, especially opening the eyes.

Open pipes are not so they can see you, they are so they can hear you.

:) sounds more like he needed a baseball bat applied, not a law ;)

I never do shit like this, I have some consideration for others,
unlike sooooooo many in society today.

Bit a of a shame, really.

But speaking of applying the law, why is it applied to bikes,
but not to stereos, the hopped up Nip cars with garbage can exhausts,
not to mention ur lawnmower or leafblower, which can get just as loud ?

There are already disturbance of peace laws on the books.

p.s. find out who got the contract to supply the remote tachometers... 24k each....

and follow the money back to Edmonton City Council.

    jus' saying ;)
