The teen admitted Tuesday in a Brandon courtroom to having consensual sex with a 13-year-old girl in December.
The girl was the sister of one of his friends.
The 17-year-old was staying overnight at his friend's house, south of Brandon, and was playing truth or dare with the girl. Court was told he dared the girl to lose her virginity to him.
Although the girl agreed, at 13 she was not legally old enough to consent to sex.
Incredible restraint? Pray you never have a daughter.
I'd have been in cuffs if it was my daughter. Even if it was consensual sex between two teens, the difference between 17 and 13 is too much.
Even when it wasn't possible to gain the parents approval.
But I guess the times are a changin'.
Most 17 and 13 couples that I've ever known about haven't resulted in charges.

Sorry, but I didin't hang around creeps/losers in highschool, and that's what 17 yr. old guys who dated, or were screwing, 13 yr. olds were considered.

What you have to do is to raise her correctly so she does not become a slut that agrees to lose her virginity at 13 years old.

A 13 year old girl would be really easy to pressure into losing her virginity. That's part of the reason we have the law because we recognize that young people are vulnerable to being taken advantage of.

Good parenting only goes so far, plus the fact that this guy was a friend of her older sister may put him into a sort of position of power or trust.

Nah, I just know how many guys my sister and her friends went through during that spectrum of age.
I'm not surprised that charges where laid, I'm just surprised at the scale of your reaction.
If that was my daughter he would have been one hurting unit.
