Police say surveillance footage shows the suspect come into the store then go outside and jump on the bike and ride away. The owner of the bike had parked it just outside the door before going into the store.

I reall hope they catch the prick. I've had two bikes stolen since moving to the Okanagan. Never had anything stolen from me before that.

In all seriousness, what kind of moron leaves a $2400 mountain bike UNLOCKED outsie a store. If a bike this expensive is sitting there unlocked, it deserves to be stolen. As bad as it is that someone stole it, let's place the blame properly. You don't just leave an expensive bike out in the open. Sheer stupidity.

I disagree. But then I was raised in a community where you left vehicles unlocked with keys in them in case someone needed it.

Looks like they've got your number, bitch.

Nail him to the freekin' wall. How expensive does the item have to be for the big sentence?

Damn most of the cars I've owned aren't worth $2400.Still I can't stand a thief.I think the rule of thumb is anything over $1000 is grand theft, and considered a felony.A felony conviction, and some time in the grey bar motel could be the attitude adjustment this punk needs.

I'm with you on it being a dumb move, but... he DESERVED to have it stolen? Too far.

Nope, that's like saying you deserve to have your house robbed because you went next door for 5 min to see how your neighbour was, leaving your door unlocked.

By the way Robair, I thought you were in Pile-O-Bones?

I hope they get that bastard. Once had 2 bikes stolen out of my condo storage - $5000 + whatever else I put into them gone in one fell swoop. One bike I had for 3 weeks. I thought I was safe behind a steel door and then using a strong chain to chain them to a 8 inch pipe. Nope. Now I essentially sleep with my bikes, and don't leave them outside even locked up unless I'm with a group and we can see the bikes from where we sit.

Hate to say it, I agree that leaving a $2400 bike unlocked is just asking to have it stolen, Brenda, it's not even close to the same as rape because of a skirt. Though it seems they have a really good picture of this guy so dumb crook will be caught as well. I've had 3 bikes stolen, 1 when I was a kid and 2 as an adult, all 3 times they were locked up and cheap bikes, people will steal anything, the days of leaving things unlocked even in a small community are long gone.

Mine got lifted, locked up at a church, on a Sunday. Wasn't too expensive, got it at a garage sale, but had several hundred $$ invested in it. At least the thief could go to confession after he lifted it. :P

Steal anything is right. I've seen people steal the squeegees at the gas station. I've seen them steal the toilet plunger in a convenience store bathroom. I even had a Brian Mulroney "doll" with a noose around his neck with which you hang him from a car window and a button on his lapel that said, "I love the GST".
Someone broke into my car to steal it. They didn't steal anything BUT that.

Hmmm. Can Harper account for his whereabouts on the day in question?

Actually Brenda nailed it. It's exactly the same as a woman putting herself in a dangerous situation and getting raped. Neither deserves to have it happen. But if it does, they were being a dumbass. Oh, when will the Kleptoarchy stop oppressing bikies - take back the night!
