She wrote of feeling worthless, of her steadily deteriorating emotional state and lack of hope.

What a crock this story is. It explains nothing. These babies all had different fathers, ie she was pregant 3 times, gave birth, and nobody noticed? Nobody asked where the babies were? What a crock

Apathy and neglect are an ocean that some people swim.

    Or stupid stuff happens.

In life, the administrative assistant who worked in a law office apparently chose to suffer in silence, and managed to fool everyone: her friends and relatives saw her as "very happy;" her co-workers described her as "friendly;"

I'm sorry, but it is pretty simple to fool people, as people are stupid. If you dont want to show your emotions, you don't. No one asks, and if they do, your "no, I'm fine" *fake smile* does the trick.

Showing your emotions is one thing, showing you're pregnant 3 times is another. The boyfriend didn't notice, the family and friends didn't notice? She killed each child soon after it was born, not all at once before she killed herself. Come on, there's some bullshitting going on here by the people in her life.

I'll make myself very clear from the beginning. In no way do I feel any sympathy for this woman.

Having been immersed in the Hindu Indian culture for over twenty years, I can easily understand how she was able to hide the pregnancies.

No where did I read that 'These babies all had different fathers'! Where did you pull that one from??

Some people don't show. A friend of mine had 3 children and the only reason I knew she was pregnant, was because she told me.

Other than that, she didnt kill herself, she bled to death after giving birth on her own.

She gave birth to the first on in hospital, so people certainly should have known about that one - why did nobody ask? How could her boyfriend not know? Are you telling me if you had been fucking your friend you would not have known she was pregnant? How fat do you have to be to not show a full term baby?

The hospital knew, but they dont check up on you. Her bf is a longhaul truckdriver, and never home.

My friend was pretty fat (about 130 kgs) but some skinny people dont show either. Seriously, if you want to hide, you can hide everything.

Your 'lack of knowledge' certainly is 'showing'.

    Again!

With your great knowledge, explain to me how a woman who has a bf and family and friends in her life can go to hospital to give birth and nobody ever asks her where the baby is?

Nobody probably knew she went there. Or she made up a fake (minor) surgery and didnt want anyone to come visit her.

People don't ask further if they know you are secretive anyway.

In 'this' culture, such matters are extremely private, and not openly discussed . Now, if the woman does not tell anyone that she is pregnant, it is very easy to hide underneath a sari.
Not 'everyone' in 'every culture' has the attitude of " Hey Baby, turn on all the lights, crank up the tunes, let's get naked and fuck"!
The women are taught that " Your husband will teach you whatever you need to know". Just do it! And the men are raised to understand that a wife is there to 'service him' as he sees fit', and does not 'burden himself' with such inconveniences as pregnancy.
As to how she 'had the baby at a hospital' and none of her family knew is very easy to understand. Her bf is a trucker. He's on the road for a few days, she goes to the hospital for a day or two, comes home, kills and hides the baby, and carries on like nothing happened. No one is any the wiser!

You talk of her culture - her culture is all about remaining connected to your parents - you don't isolate yourself from them. And to say that Sikh men "don't burden themselves with such inconveniences as pregnancy" is just ignorant. Racist too. Sikhs are big on having boys to succeed them, and get no respect in their culture if they don't have kids.

There was a woman in France who did this with 7 kids - I think the people in these womens lives must be totally out of it for something like this to happen, especially repeatedly.

You obviously know fuck-all about the Hindu-Indian Sikh culture. On the other hand I have been married to a Hindu woman for the last 24 years! So I think, no, IKNOW THAT I KNOW A LOT MORE ABOUT THIS TOPIC than you ever will!

    RACIST!!!!

As to your point of a male baby being the 'absolute accomplishment', extreme point of pride you are correct in that. However, the 'husband' must know that a pregnancy has occurred, and that a male baby has been born! This he learns from WOMEN who have accompanied the new mother in the hospital. Rare is it for a man of the Indian culture to visit or accompany his wife in the hospital! There are exceptions, and slowly it is changing.

As to her parents& family she can stay in touch if her husband allows her to, and if they are in the country!

The ONLY statement that you have made thus far, which anyone here has agreed with, myself included, is that 'anyone who would hurt/kill a child is 'totally out of it'!
