Vancouver police are preparing for the Canucks' playoff run, warning fans Monday to keep their drinking and horn-honking under control. "I think we're all hoping for a long playoff run," Const. Lindsey Houghton told reporters at a press conference.

I think the Olypics showed that folks in Vancouver can be civil partyers, is this really neccisary?

Heard on the radio this morning that downtown government & private liquor stores will have to close at 7:00 pm. How stupid is that? I understand their point on limiting public drunkeness but not everyone is a hockey fan and it is unfair to those who want to buy liquor and not drink it on the street.

Now everyone will either buy booze ahead of time or go to a bar. It doesn't change the habits of those who want to party and celebrate and now that people have been warned they'll plan accordingly.

Geez... you'd think we had a reputation here or something...

I don't think a playoff game is going to be canceled. And I doubt the streets will be full of rioters if we loose, wouldn't be first time we've lost a playoff series and people didn't riot before (maybe in '94, but I can't remember)

The Olympics showed that closing down the liquor stores is what made Vancouverites civil partiers. Before that things we getting rowdy.
