Maybe rooting for those sad-sack Edmonton Oilers this season wouldnt have been so bad after all.

There you go Martin, something about the Oilers.

Short memories and hockey seem to be conjoined at birth. Back in 2006, right after their improbable run to the Cup, the conventional wisdom was that the Oilers were the team of the future and that the Flames were on their way out. Didn't happen quite that way at all, did it? Especially after Pronger and wife decided that they couldn't quite handle the smell of rotten onions that perpetually hangs over the great city next to the mosquito-infested brackish river of slow-moving sludge.

From Craig McTavish to Jason Smith to Robbie Schremp, where are they now? I mean, seriously. Given the Oilers lack of success at drafting in the post-Messier era (hello Jason Bonsignore!) you people in da 'Chuk are wildly putting the cart way out in front of the horse, as usual. It's like dealing with Canucks fans (0 for 2 in the big show, and hello Chicago! again), except worse. How about you guys actually win something first before you start prematurely crowing about how great your team is?

Guess you didn't notice that was an article from the Calgary Sun?

Who cares about what the shitty SUN papers ever say? The local hockey media in Calgary is a total joke and even they know it. Going by the NHL.com discussion forums the local sports media is universally reviled by almost all Calgary fans.

Oilers haven't won squat yet. Until they actually do the rumours of their upcoming greatness are deeply unfounded.

Calgary reporters are always the hardest on the Flames. And of course the Oilers are on their way up, they can't go anywere but up after this years results.

Exactly. As for Thanos' little rant there... don't see too many people round here predicting a stanley cup next year. Cautious optimism is the rule. Most of us are prepared to wait a few years before planning the parade route...

Multiple LOL's at you, dude. One a day where another one of their big name defensemen says he wants out of Da 'Chuk ASAP, Oilers fans still think that they've got the Cups for 2011 to 2015 won already. It never frickin' ends with that delusional rotten-onion-reeking cesspool of a town.

Anyhoo, here's a free av for anyone who wants it. If I took it it'd just be too obvious:

Agreed with this statement for sure, none of the reporters here has a clue, they be-moan their horrible team after 2 in a row losses and claim a sure cup win after 3 wins in a row.
Having said that, GO Flames in '11
