They're a functional platform, not there for wants and wishes. A hell of a lot more usable than iPads, iPhones or PDAs
XD Can you put a laptop in your purse, your coat pocket, your glove box? You don't the optical drive or rip videos 99% of the time.

You can fit a netbook in your coat pocket? You must wear something from Mr. Big & Tall, because I sure as hell can't fit any netbook I've seen in any pocket. And I actually do use the optical drive quite often, when I play games/watch movies on my laptop. I don't have a problem with netbooks, but they just don't fit my needs.
I'd rather carry a laptop in my briefcase so that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. It might be bulkier, but it is more functional.
The iPad might change my POV, but right now, I don't care to use anything other than a desktop when I have a choice. Even 'mobile internet' on iPhones and BBs is, IMHO, a waste of time and money.
