The Vatican on Saturday denounced what it called "aggressive attempts" to drag Pope Benedict XVI into the spreading sex scandals of priests in his German homeland and contended he has long confronted abuse cases with courage.

This reminds me of Hitler on the Holicost. The German heirarcy had such there was no paper trail leading to HItler.
Above all the Furher has protected at all costs.

Here, while there is a world of differnce between the Catholoc Chruch abd the Thrid Reich, that policy exists.

There wull be no paper trail at all involving the Pope. What ever he actually did or didnot do he will appear to be sqeaky clean.

The pope learned well during his days in the Hitler Youth.
And there's not much difference between the Vatican and the Third Reich. The Vatican in fact, helped many high ranking Nazi officials escape Europe after WW2 by provding sanctuary until they could get them some fake passports to get out.

They also sheltered quite a few Jews. Below is a link that discusses the Church's(Pius XII) seeming lack of condemnation of the Nazis and their treatment of the Jews, and why it happened.

The Vatican is defending the pope. Some in the german press tried to link the pope to the abuses there because some said his brother did nothing about it even knowing about it. There is no better press than a misguided headline because some people never get past it. And if you are a anti-catholic or biased toward the church, what better fodder for those people to run with. His Holiness condemns any form of abuse, I understand why the Vatican has jumped to put this to rest.
