The Hurt Locker was a amazing movie however I think Avatar should have won. Btw did anybody see Ben Stillers performance in this? Funny as hell.

the hurt locker was a garbage movie! horrible plot, terrible character development, I can't believe this won. Inglourious Basterds should have taken it for sure

Ehh...Avatar, looking past the CGI, is just...weak on the characters and the plot.

Agreed, but that's a screenplay issue. The amount of effort and skill required leans towards Avatar.

Mind, Hurt Locker was an exceptional movie.

True, I don't deny that Avatar took a huge deal of skill and effort...but looking pretty doesn't make you a better movie as a whole. Case in point: Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

Avatar: a treat for the eyes, but you'll owe your mind an apology. The better film won.

The Hurt Locker is a remake of an old movie. I havent seen any of them, but as far as I am concerned, and from what I heard and read, The Blind Side should have won.

Then again, I am pretty biased, and I love Sandra Bullock. :) Its a great story tho.

    Reality check
For soldiers, Hurt Locker sets off explosions of laughter.

Oscar favourite's admirers don't include those who actually do the job - defusing or destroying makeshift bombs.

Lot's of experts created by that movie. The other bonus is now reporters can pad their stories with movie references.

Speaking of stories, HT should bring back Danger UXB.

Any movie is going to have people who are experts in the subject matter "laughing" at the inaccuracies. That doesn't detract from the quality of the film. Braveheart is laughable to anyone that knows Scottish history, but it's still a brilliant film.

True, it was what it was supposed to be.

I don't put any stock in the Oscars, a bunch of buffoons on a commitee can't honestly tell me what I will enjoy to watch, I have to make that decision on my own, some movies that won oscars I loved, some I just scratched my head and wondered what all the hype was about.
I haven't yet seen hurt locker or Avatar, but from what I've seen on previews and freinds opinions I'll like both of them.

Lemmy is right, accuracy doesn't make the best story (and that's what movies are) Braveheart was typical hollywood and nowhere near the truth of even the story it was based on which was written some 400 years after Wallace died, that doesn't make it a bad movie.
Any cop probably laughs at all movies based on a police officer (Speaking of, Brooklyn's Finest looks awsome).
