ROME - An unusually high tide flooded most of Venice early Wednesday, forcing tourists and residents to wade through knee-high waters or take to improvised, elevated boardwalks set up in St. Mark's Square and other landmarks

    The Discovery Channel did Mega Builders episode on the MOSE project which is three sets of huge flood gates that are supposed to help Venice avoid this kind of flooding. Unfortunately it won't be completed until 2012. 8O

    never did, everyone just forgot about it,

    except now this seasonal flooding puts all the chicken littles running around
    cackling again.
