Good tactic - avoid any truth while celebrating a monster. Get bent, idiots.

Don't think that Stalin was much of a communist.....he was in it solely for himself. which is likely why Stalinism is a term used to describe his rule as opposed to Communism. But then again there are so many flavours... Maoism, Khmer Rouge, etc. All of them responsible for horrific crimes against humanity, in their drive to bring about a utopian society of drones.

True. Stalinism is a mix of totalitarianism and collectivism, but it certainly isn't an ideology in the vein of Marx or Lenin or Trotsky. It's more of a governmental style, but socialism/communism isn't really part of the practical implementation as it hardly was positive for workers/labor.

Communism is just as full of the wretched eliminationist rhetoric towards undesireables and "troublemakers" as Nazism was. Going all the way back to Robespierre and his gaggle of proto-communists, there hasn't been a single communist state founded (including the early days of Russia when the sainted Lenin was still in control) that didn't begin with as much mass-murder as could possibly be done. Pretending otherwise or, even worse, pining about it's demise as some still do today, is just wilful ignorance or tactical denialism on the same level with those who dispute the reality of the Holocaust. My own opinion is basically that if I see someone so historically inept or delusional that they're wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt, then I'm obligated to take them about as seriously or show them the same amount of respect (i.e., none at all) that I'd be required to give to anyone stupid enough to wear a swastika hoodie out in public. Hooked cross or red star, it's all the same breed of maniacal assholes to me.

If you see it that way, true. It was not communism but socialism which is the supposed "temporary" state between the revolution and communism according to Engels. Socialism is the dictatorial state between the transition to communism, the power to the proletariat.

Well, we all know that it does not work like the theory eh !

and my time living over here has shown me just how much things have changed.

Lets not forget 20 years ago saying anything against Stalin
was a one way ticket to the gulag.

I'm sure there is a segment of the society that has a certain amount
of nostalgia for the past, primarily because the people who opposed Stalin
    are all dead.

Things here have changed so radically, there are a certain number
of people who are having trouble adapting, and getting lost in the shuffle.

But no one takes these Stalin revisionists very seriously.
