Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall have touched down in Newfoundland and were welcomed with a round of applause by people waiting at the St. John's airport for the two to begin their first official visit to Canada as a couple.

Initially I thought of Camilla as a Rotreiller, in the ststes we still have a love affainr going on with Princess Diana.

When they go to Quebec however they are considerably less fond of Charles so a Rotweller by his side may be a good thing after all.

Some Qubecers are not too fond of the Royals the best of time.. it wouldn't matter if he had a poodle by his side. But my wager is that they will turn out in large crowds to see them.. Personally ( hope my father forgives this) I think the Royals are redundant... much ado about nothing!

Well at least the Royal Family hasn't forgotten about us. Too bad the Queen didn't come along.

Yeah, why not? What's an extra suite at the Frontenac worth a day?

Is there a reason for him to come here ? I mean is he just in vacations or in an official visit to represent the Royal family ?

Yo Chuck, welcome. Hope the PM's sycophantic speech didn't make you puke.
You're welcome to visit anytime, but don't expect your face on our money. Visit our GG and she'll tell how its gonna be.

The Queen wasn't invited, Charles and Camilla were. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are set to visit Canada next summer.

Ohh ok. I personally couldn't care if the Royal Family came or not, though I still respect them.

They were invited to visit by the Government of Canada.

Governor General Michalle Jean announced that Prince Charles and his wife The Duchess of Cornwall have accepted the invitation of the Government of Canada to undertake a visit to Canada in November 2009.

I'm thinking the Queen might be coming out for the Navy Centennial.

The only information I can find about their 2010 visit is what the PM had to say:
"This visit by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be a celebration of our shared heritage and values,"

I wonder what would happen if the Governement decided to change allegiance to the Queen Beatrix of Netherlands or King Albert II of Belgium. Would the Queen EII declare war on them ?
