Kissinger urges Canada to maintain combat role

Former U.S. secretary of state Henry Kissinger said yesterday he hopes Canada will maintain its combat role in Afghanistan after 2011, although he said he respects the Ottawa's right to make its own decision

If Kissinger supports our troops staying longer, then we need to get them out as soon as possible.

At one time I wondered if with a Tory majority the pullout might be reversed. But no way now - both Karzai and the election stink too much. The sooner the troops are out of there the better.

Kissinger says we can make our own decision. That's awful fucking nice of him! Maybe we should give him a medal. How about the South Vietnamese Award of Merit. Oh yeah, I forgot that country no longer exists...
