The National Arts Centre received several complaints from the public after the prime minister's rendition of With a Little Help From My Friends during a black-tie gala in Ottawa Saturday, including one that groused Harper failed to sing in French.

It's so silly. What's even sillier is that 5 minor complaints about Harper not singing in French or singing off-key even made news. I guess we should be happy Canada is so boring that something like that would be considered newsworthy.

Jayne Watson, CEO of the National Arts Centre Foundation, the fundraising arm of the NAC, said she had received three complaints about Harper's performance. Watson said she received one phone call and two e-mail complaints about Harper's singing and the mixing of politics with the arts on the NAC stage.

Now deliberately singing bilingually - that would have been mixing politics and arts.

If it wasn't for government largesse the artistic communuity in Canada would still be drawing on the walls of caves. Who do you think paid for the NAC? All of us, my friends, from sea to sea to sea. Not too many from Revelstoke or Corner Brook get a chance to go there though.

This is very typical Francophone thinking, remember about a decade ago, they were bitching about how many 'French' were on the Montreal Canadiens hockey team!!

We should remember to keep this in context, it was only one person complaining.
