Tony Blair is in line to be proclaimed Europe�s first president within weeks if the Irish vote �yes� in today�s referendum.

    as the EU pushes more and more for Mega-Country Europe, I would be afraid of these individual countries losing their rights, identity and home-rule...
    maybe they should look into U.S. history about the Civil War and State's Rights...
    telling the Irish their first vote was stupid, so do it again is not the way in my opinion

    It won't be up to the Irish. It will be up to the entire EU. He's sort of looking for a job. Since Bush left his Mid-East role has pretty well dried up.

    He's a step closer to being EU President:

    The Irish PM, Brian Cowen, has praised the "clear and resounding" vote backing the EU's Lisbon Treaty in the Republic of Ireland's crucial second referendum.

    Early returns are showing clear majorities for the "Yes" campaign - just 18 months after voters rejected the treaty first time round.

    The EU Commission called the result a "vote of confidence" in the EU. The official result will come within hours.
