OTTAWA The federal Liberals tried to quell suggestions Monday that their leader, Michael Ignatieff, is facing a crisis of party unity in the wake of the decision by Liberal MP Denis Coderre to quit as Ignatieff's chief Quebec organizer.
He is facing a crisis of confidence. He's what the Brits call a "flannel mouth", he has the charisma of a tree stump and his Quebec wing is in a shambles.
I wonder what we do not hear about from the other side , after all Stephy is a control freak about what you hear . Infighting is part of politics to bad We have allowed this one province to mean so much .

It looks to me that Iggy would like to be a control freak too. Expect that he can't control.
Ignatieff needs to quietly and calmly step on the necks of a few of his detractors within his Party. It's time to tell them to STFU or they go sit with the other bitter losers in the NDP and Green Party....oh wait the Greenies don't have anyone.
Bob Rae seems to be pulling the strings at the moment. Coderre is an idiot but the Quebec vote is easily lost, Harper just mentioned cuts to arts funding and every street mome from Quebec City suddenly became an 'ABC' activist.
The gig was up with his Burlington field speech. One mis-step too many and Coderre is probably right. The Liberal party is becoming or is already, the Toronto Liberal party.

Why not? Maybe in Ignatieff he smells another Dion and he is just greasing the skids. What the Libs should have done last January was not hold a coronation but given the interim leadership to someone like McCallum or Goodale pending a leadership convention. I'm sure Rae is miffed at this.
They did this before with Bill Graham:
Canadians will get plenty of chances to judge for themselves in the coming months. With the Liberal leadership convention set for Dec. 3, Graham, 67, will be the face of the official Opposition through a long stretch of what's shaping up to be a tumultuous minority parliament.
