The Madrid bombings were very effective in changing the election and getting the Spanish out of Iraq.

There is now talk in Italy about leaving Afghanistan.

    Hope its only BS..

I say fuck Al-Qaeda, they can threaten all they wish. Am I the only one who thinks these Al-Qaeda threats piss individuals off more than they scare? Atleast that's how I feel. Every threat just makes me want to stay in Afghanistan longer. Definetly do not want to bend to some terrorist organizations demands as they will just feel empowered. Also even if Germany pulled out of Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda isn't going to stop trying to blow them up. Why don't people understand that?

Well put. Like you said once they got any country to pull out it would just empower them and they would use that incident to show how powerful they are when recruiting new terrorists.

The other thing many don't realize is terrorism is not just blowing people up, its creating fear, pissing people off because they can't stop it, creating panic and chaos.

I was at a conference once where one of the heads of London's police was speaking and he commented that the biggest victory for the London Subway bombers was not killing a few people but the panic and chaos what they did caused. It showed the weakness of the western system.

If they can panic, scare, disrupt, taunt without consequence, then it's all a victory for them. People say, "yah tough guys! They are hiding caves" Sure, but when the combined efforts of NATO can't find or put and end to them (thanks Pakistan! ) well then "God must be on their side" they figure. As long as there are still people scared to fly because of what they have done, they are emboldened.

It's a shame Germany can't revive Kampegroupe Peiper, with their blow torches and panzers, to teach some manners to OBL, Al-Quada would get a taste of their own medicine. Those people would deserve it.

Thank you al Qaeda. While you're at it could you please include a threat to Canada next time? We're feeling left out.

    Kampegroupe Peiper
I hope I'm not the only one who got that reference without wiki. Good one.

Actually, since they know we will pull out in 2011, there isnt much need.

Just enough attacks to make sure the nay sayers keep saying nay,
and the yeah sayers get less of a platform.
