""Why is the CBC choosing to invest money from the Canadian government to reconstruct such a painful moment of Canadian history, one that caused so many deaths, assassinations, fires, and thefts?" said Jean-Paul Perreault, president of Impratif franais."

Because it happened, just because someone may not agree with it does not mean it did not happen. It was a very important point in North Americas history

Don't like it? Hate the British or the homeland who didn't want you. Why pass on that anger on normal Canadians or rather those who don't speak Francais? I truly don't get it.

Finally, something good from the CBC.

My Union Jack and Maple Leaf will certainly fly proudly on that day!

since the official reenactment was run off by a small vocal group, the CBC has surprisingly stepped in to pay tribute to a key moment in Canadian history... it should not need to be classified as brave, but in this day and age where splinter groups can wreck the nation's observances of its own history, well... it's something. :D

The separatists and M. Pauline look for any thread of crap they can scream about and make headlines out of it.. Reaction by English Canadians or Federalist Quebcers feed right into their bullshit!

Of course you realize that the CBC is going to make it up to Quebec and the separatists by portraying Wolfe and the British as the devils/rapists/villains while Montcalme and the French will be the saints/victims/heroes. If this isn't the end result in the finished product then I'll be genuinely surprised.

when have I ever criticised them for living in the past? :D

and yes, FLY THE MAPLE LEAF (shock/horror/roll of thunder...) it's the National Flag in case we've forgotten...

Like it or not, modern day Canada was shaped by the events in the past, and this is a prominent event in that past. I am of British stock, hence the Union Jack, and Canadian (Maple Leaf)...

So you can wail all you'd like about the Maple Leaf flying over Quebec, but remember that Quebec is, like any other, just a province under the government of Canada...

Commission president Andr Juneau said his agency couldn't guarantee the safety of the public at the event.

"We don't want it to become a clash. There was one in 1759 and we don't want another," he said at the time.

Of course you don't want it to became a clash, because in 250 years from now, our ancestors would be re-enacting the 250th anniversary of your beatdown, as well as the 500th of the original battle you fucking sepratist scumbag.
