In advertising, leprechauns are cutesy little elves who love to jig and giggle. In Irish mythology, though, leprechauns are pernicious troublemakers, sometimes evil and destructive

I can't imagine that this odious little troll will be able to peddle his lies for as long as he did here.

    Oh boy, another Schreiber story.

It's too bad a whole bunch of his "lies" were proven to not be lies by Mulroney himself.

Oh well. I understand why you're upset.

For over a decade, Schreiber has been able again and again to lure Canada's political and judicial systems in with promises of pots of stunning revelations about prominent Canadians. These have enabled him to avoid extradition to Germany to stand trial for tax evasion; every accusation has had to be run to ground.

But like the leprechaun's gold, the revelations have never materialized. Schreiber is a brilliant dream-weaver, but not a similarly stellar producer of facts, documents and evidence.

Even as he was turning himself in last Saturday at the Toronto West Detention Centre, from where he was flown to Germany on Saturday night, Schreiber was trying to pull his magic-gold routine one last time. He told reporters he had starling evidence he had not yet shared with Canadians, but would like to if allowed to remain in the country.

"But I have to be careful at the moment," he claimed, because the federal government was deporting him to "get my mouth shut and keep me out of the country."....

Cripes... maybe it's because I come from an Irish background, but I've been saying all this crap the very moment I heard about him and this little run around ploy of his.

I said it before, but I'll say it again..... he wasn't brilliant in anything, people were just more stupid then he was to see what he was really trying to do.

Whatever was found on Brian is trivial compared to the total cost of this fiasco he pulled off just to try and save his own fat little neck and in the long run, whatever brian lied about doesn't make a difference in anything.

In 2007, he insisted he had proof that he had not before revealed about payments he had made to Canadian politicians. That claim, although almost certainly bogus, was enough to tempt opposition politicians -- still lusting after all these years for the head of Mr. Mulroney-- to call him before a House of Commons committee, which led to the just-concluded Oliphant commission hearings, all of which enabled him to stay in Canada another two years.

The Liberals, while never plotting to keep Schreiber in Canada, were never eager, either, to have him deported quickly. At worst, while they were in power they were only too happy to let the excruciatingly long deportation process drag on so that Schreiber was around to erupt periodically and take Canadians' minds off the Liberals' own scandals.

^ And for once, it's not just a forum member saying it.

Maybe the Liberals should be thrown into the hot seat with some questioning on where their priorities are in this country.

I wouldn't say stupid, more like desperate. The Libs were looking for anything they could use to smear Brain, hell if a incarcerated doped up drug dealer came forward saying he had info on Mulroney they would probably have sprung him from jail too. All of this just to stick it to an ex PM who's been out of office for nearly 20 years.

Ya Brian was probably dirty, but for Christ sakes it let it be all ready. How much did it cost the Canadian tax payer to simply embarrass the guy. The sickest thing about this is that the very people who keep saying "it's important to get to the bottom of this" not only tend over look but also get extremely upset when you bring up any of the accusations against Chretien or Martin.

Damn those Liberals for wanting the truth about the corruption of former PM Mulroney and the culpability of the PCs/Reform/Alliance/CPC. Of course they wanted him to stick around no different then any witness in a trial.

If the situation were reversed then Harper would have been sponsoring Schreiber for citizenship if it meant nailing the Libs. As it is he has to keep quite about his own admiration and links to Schreiber.

Chretien and Martin went through a very thorough and public investigation and every step of the way the cons most certainly didn't "let it go".

Whats good for the goose and all that don't you think?

Agreed... Then perhaps some in the Liberal party should be asked why they would deliberatly create this mess and waste all of our time and tax payer's dollars?

Either Complete Stupidity, or Selfish Political Gains.... either would warrent their removal from their job if you ask me.

Then she'll be Rock'n with the fishies.... see.

Oh wait, be careful cracking jokes about Dion like us here in Halifax did or she might cancel her tour to your city. *snaps finger* Darn.... we missed out on that.

Celine event cancelled over negative press: husband
    http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... TVNewsAt11

Celine Dion cancelled a concert in Halifax because local radio and newspaper reports continually insulted her, the singer's husband and manager Rene Angelil said Tuesday.

"When an artist comes to a place to entertain, the artist hopes people are happy," Angelil said by phone. "I couldn't understand that negative reaction."....

That's because 90% of the damn radio stations and newspapers here are Rock Stations or focus on rock/metal reports in music you fool!!

    Do your homework next time.

    Sorry, rant over.
