Isolated incidents only involving a few religious extremists? I'm sorry but these events are far too commonplace, and usually carried out by the powers that be/governments to be labelled atypical of Islamic society.

Don't forget that most incidents are never reported because they are total acceptable in most Islamic countries. Much like how most fines are never reported in the west, most punishments to women never get reported in Islamic states.

It is only because she is a journalist and knows how to get information out that this has made it to the news at all.

True enough, gotta wonder if she did this to expose it ?

Oh and it seems the exemptions for non islamic women dont seem to apply
anymore. The ladies travelling to this wonderful part of the world
    might want to take note.

For those nuts enough to travel to Iran, they have stated that foreign women are not exempt from their dress codes.
