"RIM is extremely disappointed that Nortel's world leading technology, the development of which has been funded in part by Canadian taxpayers, seems destined to leave Canada and that Canada's own Export Development Corporation is preparing to help by lending $300 million to another bidder," RIM co-chief executive Jim Balsillie said in a statement.

Well, why not? It wouldn't be the first time our government has done something stupid like this.

Quick get Ridenrain! I'm sure he can put a positive spin on this!

I read this earlier and was absolutely speechless. It's bad enough Nortel has gone down the tubes but for our own government to give a foreign company tax dollars to help buy it is absolutely crazy.

Jeez where does this guy get all his money from? Blackberries can't be doing that well. Kudos to him though for trying to keep Nortel Canadian.
