At a reconstruction base last month, Lt.-Gen. Michel Gauthier bumped into a worn-out soldier who unloaded on him about Canada's mission in Afghanistan.

Kind of a strange non-event to write a story about. Is it the Canadian Press's intention to imply that this "unidentified soldier, a 23-year veteran" speaks for all Canadian troops?

What is to note is that all choose to stick with the missin and there is none of the desertion that the press loves so dearly.

IMO any soldier who got wounded over there and has seen his friends get wounded or killed has all the right in the world to bitch as loudly as he wants to about anything. And kudos to Gen. Gauthier for being decent enough to listen to it without over-reacting.

No disagreement there but it sounds to me that the Canadian media wants us to believe that this one fellow is speaking for all of them.
