That is awesome for Alberta but if the problem still exists in BC, it could come back Alberta in a few short years.

I hope it does mean the cancellation of some prescribed burns, the summer season is short enough without having your activities restricted by a blazing man made forest fire

It's all one forest, the beetles dont care about the border. They came in from B.C. anyways back in 1978 when Alberta was trying to do something about it.
I'm right on the continental divide and border where some of the worst infestations occured many years ago and spread north.

They fly everyday here and it's kinda funny their back to doing exactly what we were doing back in the late 70's and thats chopper in to infested stands, cut and sling to a landing and then burn.

Thing is once the trees are red the beetles are long gone so this is more cosmetic then anything.
Plus it's more money for the forestry, lot's of politics involved.

When the sap stopped flowing in BC they moved to Alberty, then Ralph called them a bunch of drunken bums and they moved on.
