but just to play devil's advocate, he should have gotten sex somewhere else instead of killing someone for it

If I'm not mistaken, someone behind the murder is just as guilty as someone who commits the murder so it's off to prison for both of them.
17 + 25 is one hell of a shitty way to grow up but I guess some people need to learn a lesson

That's right. Judges all live in big gated communities or small Vancouver islands so they never have to live beside these people. That's for the little people like you and me to worry about.
