After six long months, the Mats Sundin saga is finally over as the unrestricted free agent has agreed to a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks
This is a bad deal for the Canucks. But when you're in a fight with San Jose for the Stanley Cup, you've got to pull out all the stops and take the chance.
Sundin's best days are behind him. He was great in Toronto, and they got him for a song (from the Nordiques for Wendell Clark in declining years).
He gave us Toronto fans a great decade. But his best days are behind him, and joining the fray this late into the year will probably not work out. I think he'll underachieve in Vacouver, the same way Forsberg did with the Predators.
I like Sundin, and I hope I'm wrong. And although I'm an Eastern Conference guy, the Canucks seem to have the best chance of bringing the cup home to Canada of any Canadian team, so my heart's pulling for you guys out there.
But my head says it's Detroit or San Jose, and Sundin will be a disappointment out west.
I hope I'm wrong. Good luck Mats. You gave us some good years here in T.O.
Hey, if he contributes..great....too much money, but if he frees up some space for the others...might be a good thing....
And if he doesn't help on the ice, when Roberto comes back, Mats can carry his gear to and from the arena, you know, to help him heal from his "lower body injury".....
What a #$%^&*# bloody @%&$^&* Joke!!! Waste of money...I smell another Messier debacle...FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!
But at his age, it seems that 10 Million a year could be a bit overrated though.
not gonna be good at all
sorry Tg
