The Canadian military wants to buy unmanned aircraft that can attack targets as the U.S. military does now in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan with its hunter/killer Predator drones, a move that has sparked interest from as far off as Israel.

We need to buy the contract and make them here in Canada. The flying lawnmowers were ok but these are better.

So will this do away the Air Force as we know it? Is this the beginning of the end of piloted fighter aircraft?

Didn't they say the Bomarc missile system was going to make high speed interceptors obsolete?

It is meant to complement, not overtake.

They have been wanting to do that for years, it takes the risk of loss of life out of the equation altogether.

Actually, they want drones that attack ground targets, not aerial ones. Still, drones can pull more Gs than a human can, so logically, it is the next step in aerial weaponry.

I agree. We have contributed but we should have been leading this.
All it takes is money and vision but we always show up a day late and dollar short though.

Here's one, although I am not sure if it's an africanized drone. They tend to be smaller (which could be useful in stealth mode!)
