A leading Canadian union official says he's been told that General Motors plans to shut down all of its North American plants for the entire month of January, which would leave tens of thousands of Canadians temporarily unemployed right after the holidays

    This bailout is a mistake. This money will be eaten by overpaid union workers and will make no difference to the stability of thir jobs.

    Conservatives seem to consider that everyone is overpaid except themselves. :lol: :lol: :lol:

    Havent seen the unions offer any solutions yet and I know they could help themselves as I've seen it happen before when one of the mines actually(gasp)went bankrupt and thousands lost their pensions.Good wake up call for the other mines and employees.

    Conservatives have an obsession with union workers on the low end of the pay scale. Perhaps it goes back to slavery mentality in the US and the miners that were treated as virtual slaves in Canada by the mining companies.

    You will notice that the right wing NEVER complains about overpaid managers, directors, CEOs, administrators, etc.

    One would also think that the Conservatives were the only ones who paid taxes. :roll:

    it Toyota can do it for less whats the point of the CAW?

    Try leaving your partisanship out of the conversation for a bit and maybe I'll respond to your questions.I've been on both sides of the fence with a very large union and hate all executives equally,union and management.
    Their is room for them to sit down and come up with a plan,if it means cuts to all then so be it.The alternative is bankruptcy and if the union isnt willing to do something then they will find out very fast that their jobs arent sacred.

    I did and did not see any reference to the executives accepting pay cuts. I wonder how I could have missed it. 8O Interesting that the Senators were Republican and probably the workers were Democrats. In Canada of course I am sure that the executives are Conservatives which is why there is never complaints about overpaid executives or management, only overpaid workers.

    Use pay cuts to the workers to fuel profitability and executive perks. That must be your thinking,eh?





    you missed it. I'll bet the executives at the big 3 are Liberals, after all the Liberals proposed even bigger corporate tax cuts than the Conservatives.
