It's called the process of senate reform, perhaps we'll have a day when liberal senators actually have to show and work for the money that tax-payers pay them.

But according to insiders, what really drove Harper to move quickly and fill the vacant Senate seats is the possibility of losing political power in January at the hands of the Liberal-NDP coalition.

One more nail in the coffin.

Awesome. And it's endlessly satisfying to see the Liberal supporters on CKA start to bitch and whine about the powers of the PMO that they never complained about when Chretien was doing the exact same thing.

Ten bucks says also that the future Tory senators can have their paycheques mailed directly to their home addresses instead of to some Mexican beach resort where the Liberal senators are usually hanging out.

He should have appoint when Parliament is in session, not before. To do it now reeks of sheer desperation and vindictiveness.

Also, CKA wasn't barley even a board when Jean was running the country. I joined in 2004 and Jean was out of office in 2003 and I am one of the more senior posters on this board Thanos.

Better flood those seats with CPC folks than leave them for the coalition to squander, or bribe the sepratists with.

Let's hope that Mike Duffy gets his senate seat after all. XD

Probably because we are calling out the hypocrites who bitched when the Liberals did it especially considering Harper is doing this with prorouged.

I fully expect Harper to appoint CPC senators when he has the chance.

Here's the list of senators, listed by province and who appointed them.
It's clear to see the predominance of Libs from Chretien and Martin.

So what? The Liberals have dominated the federal govt and the appointed senators match that.

What about appointing senators under a suspended parliment?

If it were Martin doing it in 05-06 under the same circumstances you would be screaming.

Another example of its not whats being done but who is doing it.

You do see that this whole hypocrisy thing just isn't working, don't you?

I'm just posting the list of senators and the readers can see who appointed how many and make up their own mind.

No. Your silence is hypocracy. Harper appointing a bunch of senators in a partisan fit of panic just in case the coalition succeeds is his hypocracy.

He broke his own election law when it was convenient and now he is breaking his own word about partisan appointments because its convenient.

I told you he and the CPC weren't different.

You really expect any change in the senate when it's loaded with Liberals? The ignorance here is astounding.
