Cut to GST makes a comeback

The stupidest move anyone could make. More people spending, most of them charging it. How do you think we all got in this mess?

Don't you know by now? Haven't you been paying attention? It's the sub-prime mortgage scheme that started this whole thing. Not people buying stuff with their credit cards.

According to some, the coming credit card crunch will make the sub prime fiasco pale in comparison.

Why do you have GST or income tax at all?

I am not in favour of cutting the GST, I rather see money going into education and infrastructure.

I'm not either as i put it on my invoices,7% would be nicer then 5 for sure.

It is a fair tax though,hitting all Canadians equally.

I'd like to see fuding increases for those too

Get rid of Indian affairs, the CBC and funding for the 'arts'.

There's a reason why the NDP is always an 'also-ran'

If they want to give Canadian businesses a good boost to carry them through the recession they should do a major cut in payroll taxes and CPP/EI contributions instead. I'd sooner see this instead of another GST cut.

The cuts to the GST was pointless Political Theatre to begin with, but changing the rate at this time is just bad timing IMO. Wait for the Recession to end and GDP Growth to return, raise it back up, Cut Income Taxes appropriately as needed based off Surplusses.
