Quebec's new winter-tire law has Canadian drivers feeling a chill as far as the West Coast.

I don't believe this at all.

I went into Costco 10 days ag, ordered four and had them installed on the 30th.

But even in northern B.C. communities like Prince George, winter hasn't yet taken hold.

As long as they think PG is Northern BC...

Sounds like people are finally realizing that All Season tires are worthless in the snow and ice.

That doesn't surprise me, given your proximity to Quebec. The problem with the article is that it sounds like the effects are equal in Ottawa and Prince George, when they are not.

Haha. I grew up in the middle of no where on a road that when plowed was still bullshit. Winter tires were one of my first purchases.

Very try in Ontario!! Depending on the popularity of the size you may be out of luck. Tire stores put their order in for winter tires in June and get only what they order unless they can borrow from others in their chain etc. This is the first year I havent had a 4WD so was going to get a set along with new rims but theres no stock in my tire size and theyre trying to get some. Although I can use studded tires.

For coasties like me and Lily it is. 8)

That said, I haven't heard any of my friend having trouble getting winter tires either. Mind you, the winter here in PG so far has been pretty tame compared to last year.

I just threw on some new winter tires about two weeks ago.

I really didn't have a hard time finding them dispite the fact every tire dealer in the city kept telling me "This is our last set" and "you won't be able to get tires this winter if you don't buy them now!". Poppycock.

I have 20" rims and it's had to find all seasons let alone winter tires and I seemed to do ok. I didn't get the yokahamas I wanted but I did end up with a good set of hancooks for a reasonable price.
